Labor Day Celebration at U.S. National Whitewater Center Start your Labor Day holiday on the right foot with a hilly 5K and 15K trail race at the USNWC. Both races will run through the woodlands of the USNWC trail system and will be followed by Labor Day festivities, including entertainment, food, drink, live music and fireworks. 2013 Charlotte Labor Day Parade This year’s parade returns to our traditional route : south on Tryon Street from the Hal Marshall Center, through the Square, turning on 3rd Street, and ending on College St north of 3rd St. Parade assembly begins at 8 am and the parade starts at 11 am on Labor Day Monday September 2nd. http://charlottelabordayparade.shutterfly.com

Matthews Alive The town of Matthews is a peaceful, historic community, right outside the excitement of Charlotte city limits, and hosts its own annual festival Matthews Alive! The festival runs August 30th – September 2nd. This family-oriented festival includes music food, arts, crafts and rides! All proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations. www.matthewsalive.org

Elizabeth Ave Block Party The Elizabeth Avenue Block Party is not only fun with local musicians, artists and food, but is also a great way to feed needy Charlotte families! Grocery Giveback will feed 100 families in Charlotte. Charlotte Knights Take me out to the ballgame! The Charlotte Knights are having their last game in Knights Stadium in Fort Mill on Labor Day! Next April, the Knights will be playing at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte! Monday, September 2nd the gates open at 1:00 pm as the Knights will host the Braves.
